ACARD represented Taiwan to participate in the Golden Penguin Cup Software Contest in 4 Regions of Cross-Strait and won the Outstanding Open Source Software Design Award

 At the 3 rd Golden Penguin Cup Software Contest presentation ceremony held on September 11-12, 2007 organized by the Taipei Computer Association Taiwan Linux Consortium, Co-Create Software Branch of Chinese Software Industry Association, and Hong Kong Open Source Software Centre, ACARD Corp were awarded with the Outstanding Open Source Software Design Award, revealing the research that resulted in the application of the embedded Linux RAID.
Following the rapid development of the Internet, the commercialization of Linux applications is gaining popularity, which underlines that importance of open source codes on information technology research and development. For a long time, ACARD not only continued to update and improve RAID technology, implementing the memory chip into Linux driver support, enabling its product application on the digital home, network storage, and DVR system, they also replaced the x86 PC with RISC CPU on the Linux platform, greatly simplifying CPU, lowering hardware and software costs, enabling Home NAS of the Internet, facilitating data storage, and sharing and cross-platform supports.
In the spirit of using open source Linux, ACARD benefited from the free development platform and has developed excellent storage products. Moreover, ACARD shares the infrastructure and source code of its system on the Internet, in the hope that Linux will become more popular to foster further software resources and a better product development environment.
