Today, ARARD Technology, which specializes in SCSI/IDE/SATA, RAID and storage device designing, has announced the first and only 8bay eSATA-to-SATA RAID Tower - ARS3408 series DVR storage system on the market.
It is a storage subsystem specially designed for DVR storage, with a built-in high speed eSATA interface, steady disk controller, equipped with 8 SATA 3.5 inch hard disk tray. It also supports JBOD (Spanning) and Normal (non-RAID), and the advanced ARS3408M has special support for the RAID 1 function.
The ARS3408 series is an integrated system specially designed for DVR storage, and is built with the disk control engine developed by ACARD exclusively; it has a built-in 32 bit server-class structure RISC CPU, an excellent cooling system and system health monitoring and management, enough to support the DVR for 24/7 long period recordings. Also, all ACARD DVR series and ARS3408 support SATA NCQ commands, which allows reorganization of the disk’s read and write commands and reduce waiting time of disk heads when accessing data randomly, therefore reducing lag when running multiple recording/playing tasks.
The law demands that recording of important places must be kept for 3 months; in the past, a 1TB hard drive could allow the 16ch DVR CIF to continue recording for 16 days, while the D1 could only record for less than 7 days. The ARS3408 series supports the SATA hard drives with the highest capacity available on the market; the total system space can support up to 32TB, which satisfies the need for long recording periods.
Data safety has always been one of the most important elements for DVR systems. ARS3408M supports the RAID 1 function; every second data is automatically copied and saved on two independent hard drives to avoid the problem of data loss in the event of hard drive malfunction.
Additionally, the exclusive multiple RAID function allows you to configure all hard disks into four groups of RAID 1, allowing the user to remove the hard disk for video playback or editing at any time without having to stop DVR operation, thus ensuring constant monitoring capability. Every hard drive is also equipped with a safety lock to stop unauthorized removal, allowing the entire monitoring system to be protected.
The operating interface of the ARS3408 series has clear LCD text instructions, hard disk status is easy to operate and helps reduces operation errors by the user; it is easily learned by non-professionals. The case design is a tower-type, and can be placed in the corner of an office or monitoring center. Hard drives are designed with no screws, simple to remove and insert without need of tools when installation or replacement is required.
In terms of compatibility, the ARS3408 series has passed a series of strict compatibility tests by the manufacturer, and achieved optimal match with the ACARD DVR, reducing potential compatibility problems. When compared with other standard personal storage devices which focus on usage convenience, the ARS3408 series reduces compatibility problems.
